Overview

The Schwab integration gives users the ability to quickly search Schwab clients and import available client and financial data into Asset-Map, reducing the need to rekey data and streamlining the process of adding and updating Asset-Map households.

Set up your Integration with Schwab and Import a Client

Enable Integration

  • Within Asset-Map access the Integrations page. Click Integrations at the bottom of the Asset-Map Platform page or click your likeness in the upper right area and select Integrations.

  • Click Activate on the Schwab tile and input your Schwab credentials.

Import a Client from Schwab

  • Select "Add Household" on the Asset-Map dashboard page or by clicking the House icon in the upper left area. Select the Integrations option. Select the Schwab option.

  • Search for the client's name and click the magnifying glass search icon.

  • Once presented with the list, click "Import" on the desired option.

  • Click "View" to view the imported household.

Member level information

  • First & Last Name

  • Address

  • Phone Number

  • Role

Please note that the Date of Birth/Age field on the Essentials page will be the date of import until edited by the advisor. The DOB age of the client can be found on the Schwab tab of the edit window.

Financial information creating tiles

  • Asset Type

  • Interested Member/Owner

  • Account Type (where possible based on value match)

  • Instrument Categories (Retirement & Non-Retirement assets only)

  • Reference Name

  • Location

  • Value

  • Data Collected date

👉Note: Some editing of the Financials or Members may be needed within Asset-Map.

Information imported from Schwab that is not editable from within Asset-Map is within a gray field with a lock icon above the field.

👉Note: if expected assets don't appear on the Asset-Map, please check the Financials page of the household to see if assets were imported but unassigned. Click the unassigned item to enter in the owner member(s) of the asset.

Link Asset-Map Members in Existing Households to your Client’s Records in Schwab

To link a member (used when an unconnected household is already created), open the Household page of a household. Click the Edit icon then the Schwab integration. Search for the client's name. Use the "Import to" drop-down menu to select whom on the map to link the client to. Click "Import" adjacent to the household member.

Access the Schwab tab to view more information about the member or financial. Financial data is updates once a day.

Synchronization Options

Sync from the Actions menu, the right-click (alt click) menu, and the financial or member info/edit window.

Unlinking (Disconnecting from Schwab)

There are two levels of unlinking depending on what is needed. Either:

  • At the member from within the Household, or;

  • From Asset-Map platform altogether at the Advisor level.

When attempting to Unlink a Member, an information box may appear informing you that the entire Household was imported from the Advisor level and must be disconnected there.

Unlink a household from the Advisor's Asset-Map Integrations page, found by clicking Integrations from the main Asset-Map Platform page or from the drop-down menu found under the advisor's likeness in the upper right area.
